How do we know that losing our life for Christ is valuable?

Answered in 1 source

Losing one's life for Christ leads to true salvation and gains eternal life (Mark 8:35).

In Mark 8:35, Jesus states, 'For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me and for the gospel will save it.' This paradox serves to reveal a profound truth about the nature of true discipleship: that in giving ourselves fully to Christ and His mission, we actually gain eternal life and fulfillment. The idea is rooted in the biblical understanding of the exchange of temporal for eternal values.

When believers prioritize the call of Christ over personal comfort and worldly distractions, they align themselves with God's purposes and experience the fullness of life that comes from knowing Him. Discipleship is not about what we can gain in terms of earthly reward but rather about the eternal significance of our choices. As we embrace a life lost in service to Christ, we experience the promises of Scripture that assure us of our preservation and ultimate glory with Him (Romans 8:17-18).
