How do we know that love is more important than knowledge in Christianity?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible clearly states that knowledge puffs up while love builds up, highlighting the necessity of love in exercising knowledge.

In 1 Corinthians 8:1, Paul contrasts knowledge with love by stating that while knowledge can lead to pride, love has the ability to edify and build up the community of believers. For Paul, the key is that knowledge should never exist in isolation; it must be accompanied by love. Without love, knowledge can become a tool for division and conceit. Thus, the Apostle teaches that when exercising our freedoms, especially around those who are newer in faith or weaker, our primary concern should be whether our knowledge is used to build them up in faith and not to harm or belittle them.
