How do we know that love is the greatest gift?

The Apostle Paul, in 1 Corinthians 13, asserts that while spiritual gifts such as prophecies, tongues, and knowledge are essential for the church, they are temporary and will eventually cease. Love, in contrast, will endure forever and will be perfected in the age to come. Paul emphasizes that love never fails and is foundational to the believer's life, highlighting that the greatest commandment is to love God and love others as oneself (Matthew 22:37-39). Therefore, love is central to the Christian faith and reflects God's ultimate purpose in redemption.
