How do we know that man's will is not free?

Answered in 1 source

We know man's will is not free because Scripture describes it as being bound to evil and rebellion against God.

The concept of free will is often misunderstood. While man does have the ability to devise plans and make choices, Scripture asserts that all his thoughts and intentions are rooted in a sinful heart (Proverbs 16:9, Genesis 6:5). The Bible emphasizes that no one is righteous by nature, and every intention of the heart is evil continually. Thus, a 'free will' in the sense of being unencumbered and capable of choosing good does not exist, as all human choices are ultimately a reflection of a sinful nature apart from the grace of God.
