How do we know that meditating on scripture is important?

Answered in 1 source

Meditating on scripture is crucial because it leads to spiritual growth and prosperity in life.

Meditation on scripture is essential for a believer's spiritual growth. As the psalmist notes, the blessed man meditates on the law of the Lord day and night, which allows the truths of scripture to take deep root in his heart. This practice leads to wisdom, understanding, and ultimately a fruitful life. The blessed man resembles a tree by the rivers of water—his life is sustained and nourished by the scriptures. Furthermore, as believers meditate on God's Word, they are led in righteousness and instruction, allowing their lives to reflect the character of Christ more fully.
