How do we know that only the elect go to heaven?

Answered in 1 source

The elect are those whose names are written in the Lamb's Book of Life, as declared in Revelation 21:27.

Eternal life is a gift granted by God's grace to those chosen or elected before the world's foundation. The distinction between the elect and the non-elect is made clear in Revelation 21:27, which states that nothing that defiles will enter heaven except those whose names are written in the Lamb's Book of Life. This concept of election is reinforced throughout Scripture, notably in Romans 9, which affirms God's sovereignty in choosing individuals for mercy and grace.
