How do we know that our faith is true?

Answered in 2 sources

We trust in the promises of God as revealed in Scripture, supported by the Holy Spirit's assurance and our personal testimonies.

The assurance of our faith is rooted in the objective truth of God's Word. In 1 John 5:10-12, we are reminded that those who believe in the Son of God have the witness in themselves; this is the internal assurance given by the Holy Spirit, who confirms our identities as children of God. Our faith is true because it aligns with the truth of Scripture and is affirmed through our personal experiences of grace. As we witness and live out our faith in obedience, we grow in confidence of its truthfulness, both through the community of believers and the promise that God will finish the work He has begun in us (Philippians 1:6).
