How do we know that our sins have been forgiven?

Answered in 1 source

Believers can be assured of their forgiveness because of Christ's sacrificial death and the promise of God's Word.

The assurance of forgiveness in the believer's life is firmly rooted in the work of Christ. In 2 Samuel 12:13, we see David confessing his sins, and Nathan assures him with the words, 'The Lord has put away your sin.' For believers today, this assurance is echoed through the New Testament, where we are reminded that our sins are blotted out by the blood of Christ. When we are in Christ, our sins are non-existent in the eyes of God, a pivotal truth that brings both comfort and responsibility to live in accordance with this grace.
