How do we know that our union with Christ is secure?

The security of a believer's union with Christ is founded on the truth that He lives eternally and that this life secures the life of His people. Jesus states, 'Because I live, ye shall live also' (John 14:19). This declares a profound relationship between Christ, the head, and believers, the body; just as the head cannot perish, neither can the body that is united with Him. The divine nature shared with Christ reinforces the assurance that believers will not fall away, as they are intimately connected to Him, the immortal head of the body.
