How do we know that peace from God is real?

Answered in 1 source

True peace from God is confirmed through the assurance of faith and the witness of the Holy Spirit in our hearts.

We discern the reality of God's peace through the assurance provided by the Holy Spirit and our faith in Christ. In Judges 6:23, the Lord reassures Gideon by saying, 'Peace be unto thee; fear not, thou shalt not die.' This is a profound statement reflecting the security and acceptance we have in God through Christ. The Apostle Paul also writes in Romans 5:1, 'Therefore, being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.' The assurance we feel is not based on feelings alone but rests on the solid foundation of God's promises and the reality of Christ's atoning sacrifice. When we accept Christ, the Holy Spirit confirms our status as children of God, which gives us the lasting peace that surpasses understanding (Philippians 4:7).
