How do we know that perseverance in faith is true for Christians?

Answered in 2 sources

Perseverance in faith is assured by God's preserving grace, which ensures true believers will continue to believe and follow Christ.

The perseverance of true believers is rooted in the idea that God’s grace actively preserves them in their faith. According to Jeremiah 32:40, God establishes an everlasting covenant with His people, ensuring that they will not turn away from Him. This is a reflection of the reality that believers, indwelt by the Holy Spirit, possess a new heart and new desires that compel them to continue in their faith, as seen in 1 John 3:9. Consequently, true believers may stray momentarily but will ultimately return because their salvation is anchored in God’s unchanging promises, not their fluctuating actions.
