How do we know that Peter was truly converted?

Answered in 1 source

Peter's conversion is evident through his recognized sinfulness and his subsequent steadfast faith in Christ.

Peter's conversion is affirmed in Scripture through his confessions and experiences with Christ. In Matthew 16:13-20, Jesus acknowledges Peter's declaration of faith as a revelation from God, indicating divine insight that doesn't stem from human understanding. Furthermore, even though Peter denies Christ three times, his later acknowledgment of sin and repentance demonstrates genuine transformation. His restoration, where Jesus queries his love in John 21, further solidifies his role as a faithful disciple. This is indicative of the believer's journey; we may falter but are upheld by Christ’s persistent love and grace, affirming that true conversion produces a heart that eventually turns back to Him.
