How do we know that prayer cannot save us according to the Bible?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible teaches that prayer is important, but it does not save; salvation comes solely through faith in Christ.

While prayer is a vital practice for believers, it is not a means of salvation. It can only stem from a heart that has been regenerated by God's grace. The idea that merely praying can secure salvation is akin to Israel’s mistake of relying on the Ark of the Covenant instead of seeking God Himself. Faith must rest in the finished work of Jesus Christ, who alone provides redemption. As emphasized in the sermon, our focus should be on the God who hears our prayers, and not on the act of praying itself. True prayer reflects trust in God's sovereign grace, which saves us and delivers us from sin.
