How do we know that prayer changes things?

Answered in 1 source

Prayer changes things because it is a means through which God's ordained purposes are fulfilled, demonstrating His sovereignty over all events.

While many believe that prayer is simply a means to change God's mind, it actually serves to align our desires with His sovereign will. God has designed prayer as a way to express our dependency upon Him and to honor His authority. As we pray, we are acknowledging our need for Him, which opens the channels for Him to work in accordance with His established plans (James 5:16). Understanding this helps to see the power of prayer not in altering God's decrees but in participating in the unfolding of His divine purposes.
