How do we know that prayer is important in a sovereign grace context?

Answered in 1 source

Prayer is vital because God commands it and it aligns our hearts with His will, fulfilling His purpose.

In a sovereign grace context, prayer is not merely a duty but a divine command that shapes our relationship with God. As articulated in the sermon, God commands His people to pray and assures them that the prayer of a righteous person avails much. Even when we understand God's sovereignty and eternal purpose, prayer becomes a means through which we seek His will and find comfort and clarity in our circumstances. Furthermore, knowing God’s will encourages us in prayer; it does not negate it. Instead, understanding His sovereignty motivates us to approach Him with reverence and expectation, affirming that He works all things according to His will. The beauty of sovereign grace is that it invites us into communion with the Almighty, encouraging our hearts to seek His presence actively.
