How do we know that prayer works?

Answered in 2 sources

Prayer works as it is a means through which God acts according to His will, answering the genuine cries of His people.

Prayer works because it aligns our hearts with God's will and opens channels for Him to act in our lives. In Hebrews 11:6, we are reminded that without faith, it is impossible to please God, and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him. This assurance shows that prayer not only communicates our requests but also demonstrates our dependence on God and our trust in His goodness. Biblical examples, such as Elijah's simple yet powerful prayer on Mount Carmel (1 Kings 18:36-38), illustrate that God answers prayers offered in faith and sincerity. Ultimately, the effectiveness of prayer is rooted in God's sovereignty and His promises to listen to the prayers of the righteous.
