How do we know that receiving criticism is important for Christians?

Answered in 1 source

Receiving criticism is essential for spiritual growth, as it offers insight into areas of our lives that need improvement.

Scripturally, we are called to be teachable and humble (James 1:19). Just as a sculptor refines his work based on observation, we are to refine ourselves through the valuable insights that can come from criticism. A self-made man, one who learns only from his own judgments and experiences, lacks the depth available through external perspectives. Engaging with others helps correct our faults and leads to holistic growth, as Paul emphasizes in 2 Timothy 3:16-17 regarding the role of Scripture in equipping us for righteousness.
