How do we know that regeneration is a necessary part of salvation?

Answered in 1 source

Regeneration is necessary for salvation because Jesus stated, 'You must be born again' (John 3:7).

The necessity of regeneration, or being 'born again,' is clearly articulated by Jesus in John 3:7, where He emphasizes that no one can see the Kingdom of God without this transformation. This new birth is not an act of human will or effort; it is an act of God’s sovereign grace, executed by the Holy Spirit. The Scriptures repeatedly affirm that without this regenerating work, individuals remain spiritually dead in their trespasses and sins. It is through regeneration that one receives a new heart and a new spirit, allowing them to respond to the gospel and embrace Christ for salvation. Hence, regeneration is foundational for experiencing genuine conversion and entering a relationship with God.
