How do we know that regeneration is the work of God?

Answered in 2 sources

Regeneration is affirmed in scripture as a divine act, enabling individuals to see and hear the truth of God.

The doctrine of regeneration emphasizes that it is God who opens the eyes and ears of the spiritually blind and deaf. As the sermon points out, passages like Ephesians 1 highlight the need for enlightenment by God. For example, in Deuteronomy 29:4, Moses states that God had not given the people a heart to perceive, underscoring that true understanding is a work of divine grace. Regeneration, therefore, is not simply a result of human effort but is initiated and completed by God as He enables individuals to recognize and believe the truth. Such examples as Lydia in Acts 16:14 demonstrate God’s sovereign intervention in opening her heart to the gospel.
