How do we know that righteousness is imputed to us?

Answered in 1 source

Righteousness is imputed to believers when they believe in the promises of God, just as it was to Abraham.

Romans 4:3 states, 'Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him for righteousness.' This Scripture underscores that it is by faith that righteousness is credited to us. When we place our trust in God’s Word and promises, we receive the righteousness of Christ. This imputation is not a mere legal fiction; rather, it signifies that believers are genuinely made righteous in the sight of God. By faith, we are united with Christ, whose righteousness is then counted as our own, enabling us to stand justified before the Holy God.
