How do we know that righteousness is necessary for Christians?

Answered in 1 source

Righteousness is a necessity for Christians as it is the foundation for one’s acceptance before God, as reflected in Scripture.

The necessity of righteousness arises from the nature of God, who is perfectly holy. In Psalm 15 and throughout Scripture, it is clear that for any person to dwell in God's presence, they must possess an inherent righteousness that corresponds with God's own holiness. Righteousness is not merely an act; it stems from the new nature given to believers through Christ. Since all were born with a sinful nature, the righteousness required comes solely through faith in Jesus Christ, who fulfills the law and provides His righteousness to believers, enabling them to be justified before God.
