How do we know that Sabbath keeping is no longer required for Christians?

Answered in 1 source

Sabbath keeping is considered a legal type that ceased with Christ's fulfillment of the law, as supported by Colossians 2:16-17.

In Colossians 2:16-17, we find that the Holy Spirit strictly forbids believers from keeping carnal ordinances, including the Sabbath. The author explains that these ordinances, like the Passover and circumcision, were signs anticipating Christ's work. Since Jesus fulfilled these types through His sacrificial death, the legal requirements no longer bind His followers. Those who insist on observance do not acknowledge the complete sufficiency of Christ's atonement and thus remain under the law's curse. The New Testament reiterates that our true rest is found in the Person of Christ rather than in legalistic observance.
