How do we know that salvation is appointed by God?

Answered in 1 source

The Bible affirms that God has appointed salvation and chooses those He will save (Romans 9:33, Psalm 51:12).

The doctrine of God's sovereignty in salvation is supported by numerous biblical passages. Romans 9:33 states, "Behold, I lay in Zion a stumbling stone and a rock of offense, and whosoever believes on him will not be ashamed," illustrating God's sovereign choice in appointing salvation. Similarly, in Psalm 51:12, David pleads, "Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation, and uphold me with thy free spirit," indicating that salvation is an act of God that cannot be earned or negotiated by humanity. This reflects the heart of the Reformed faith, affirming that it is God who has set aside a people for Himself, and He alone determines their path to salvation, thus making faith a gift of grace.
