How do we know that salvation is finished in Christ?

Answered in 3 sources

Jesus declared 'It is finished' to signify the completion of redemption, fulfilling Old Testament promises and abolishing the law's requirements.

When Jesus uttered 'It is finished' (John 19:30), He proclaimed the completion of the redemptive work necessary for salvation. This statement affirms that all Old Testament types, prophecies, and sacrifices were ultimately fulfilled in Him. No further sacrifices or rituals are required, as Christ's fulfillment of the law means believers' access to God is now open and unimpeded. The work of atonement was complete, satisfying God's justice and providing a path for sinners to be reconciled with the Father, a truth robustly affirmed in Hebrews 10:5-10.
