How do we know that salvation is not based on bloodlines?

Answered in 1 source

Salvation is a work of God's grace, not determined by family lineage or human effort.

The idea that salvation does not run in bloodlines is illustrated in the contrast between King Ahaz and his believing father Jotham. 2 Kings 16 notes that Ahaz, despite his father’s faith, turned to idol worship. John 1:12 reinforces this truth, stating that being born of God is not about bloodlines, the will of flesh, or the will of man but entirely of God. This emphasizes the sovereign grace of God in salvation, reminding us that regardless of our earthly lineage or background, God can and does appoint His people by His grace. We are led to understand that spiritual rebirth and faith are solely the work of God's power and mercy.
