How do we know that salvation is through faith in Christ alone?

Answered in 28 sources

Salvation is through faith in Christ because it is His death and resurrection that provides the ground for our justification, not our own faith or works.

The basis of salvation is firmly rooted in the work of Christ, not in human effort or belief alone. John 3:14-16 illustrates that just as Moses lifted up the serpent, Christ must be lifted up for the salvation of believers. While faith is indeed a necessary response, it does not contribute to the efficacy of salvation; rather, Jesus's sacrifice is what guarantees salvation. Our faith is a result of the new birth granted by the Holy Spirit, who convicts us of sin, righteousness, and judgment. Thus, salvation is rooted in the finished work of Christ and not contingent upon our faith's strength or quality.
