How do we know that secular music is inappropriate for Christians?

Answered in 1 source

Secular music can draw believers away from Christ, making it spiritually detrimental.

Octavius Winslow warns that participation in secular or worldly music may lead Christians into spiritual snares, pulling their hearts away from God. The essence of music should reflect the holiness and sanctification required by God for His followers. In so doing, sacred music acts as an instrument for spiritual elevation, nurturing a deeper relationship with Christ while secular music may invoke distractions and temptations that distort this connection. Thus, Christians are encouraged to avoid secular music and instead embrace music that glorifies God.
