How do we know that self-commendation is not approved by God?

Answered in 1 source

God approves those He commends, not those who commend themselves (2 Corinthians 10:17-18).

In 2 Corinthians 10:17-18, it is stated, 'But he who boasts must boast in the Lord. For it is not the one who commends himself who is approved, but the one whom the Lord commends.' This clearly illustrates that divine approval is not found in self-promotion or in the praise of others; rather, it comes from God. Our worth and effectiveness in ministry depend on His commendation and grace, reminding us to remain humble and focused on the Lord's glory rather than our achievements.
