How do we know that spiritual deadness is a true doctrine?

Ephesians 2:1 states that we were dead in our trespasses and sins. This spiritual deadness signifies that individuals cannot seek God or understand spiritual matters without His intervention. As understood in Reformed theology, this doctrine emphasizes that regeneration by the Holy Spirit is necessary for a person to come to faith.
