How do we know that spiritual growth is important for Christians?

Answered in 2 sources

Spiritual growth is vital as it reflects our ongoing relationship with Christ and strengthens our faith against error.

Spiritual growth is important for Christians because it is evidence of life in Christ. As we grow in grace and knowledge, we become established in our faith and less susceptible to deception. The emphasis on growth in grace, as seen in 2 Peter 3:18, highlights that our relationship with Christ is dynamic and ought to be cultivated continually. By growing spiritually, we can bear the fruits of the Spirit, which in turn influences our relationships with others and our witness in the world. Ultimately, a lack of growth can lead to stagnation and vulnerability to false teachings.
