How do we know that spiritual poverty is valuable?

Answered in 1 source

Spiritual poverty leads to dependence on God and is a state blessed by Christ in the Beatitudes.

The value of spiritual poverty is highlighted in Jesus’ Beatitudes, where He proclaims that 'blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven' (Matthew 5:3). This poverty refers not to a lack of material wealth but to a deep awareness of one's spiritual needs and dependence on God. Acknowledging our spiritual poverty allows us to seek God earnestly, recognizing that without Him, we are nothing. Consequently, those who are aware of their spiritual neediness are in a favorable position to receive God's grace and mercy.
