How do we know that the Holy Spirit is at work in our lives?

Answered in 2 sources

The work of the Holy Spirit is evident when believers experience conviction of sin, assurance of salvation, and a desire to follow Christ.

The assurance of the Holy Spirit's work in a believer's life manifests through a transformative experience of the gospel, as seen in 1 Thessalonians 1:5. When the Holy Spirit powerfully applies the truth of the Word to our hearts, we recognize our need for Christ and respond with faith and repentance. This interaction is not passive; it leads to an evident change in behavior, fruit of the Spirit, and a deep desire to live in accordance with God's will. Believers are assured that once they respond to this calling, they are securely held in Christ’s hand, further indicating the active work of the Holy Spirit in their lives.
