How do we know that the Holy Spirit is truly present with us?

Answered in 1 source

The presence of the Holy Spirit is evidenced in our lives through conviction of sin, the desire for prayer, and assurance of God's promises.

The presence of the Holy Spirit can be discerned through His effects in the life of a believer. In Zechariah, the 'seven eyes' signify the Spirit's omniscience and omnipresence, affirming that He is always active in our lives. As believers, we experience conviction of sin that leads to genuine repentance, as outlined in John 16:8, where Jesus says the Spirit will convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment. Moreover, the Spirit also aids us in prayer, prompting us to communicate with God even when we struggle to find the right words.
