How do we know that the Holy Spirit is vital for salvation?

Answered in 1 source

The Holy Spirit is vital for salvation because He alone brings conviction and enables faith in Christ.

Salvation is a supernatural work of God, primarily facilitated by the Holy Spirit. The preaching of the Word, as seen in Acts 8, is ineffective without the Holy Spirit's intervention. Philip was led by the Spirit to the Ethiopian eunuch, underscoring that it is the Spirit who directs the paths of those God has chosen for salvation. The eunuch's openness to understand the Scripture was also a result of the Holy Spirit preparing his heart. Ephesians 2:1 states that we were 'dead in our trespasses and sins,' demonstrating our inability to seek God without the Holy Spirit's awakening.
