How do we know that the Lord is our shepherd?

Answered in 1 source

We know the Lord is our shepherd by trusting in Him and recognizing His provision in our lives.

The assurance of the Lord being our shepherd comes through faith and personal experience. As David expresses in Psalm 23, recognizing that 'the Lord is my shepherd' implies an acknowledgment of His guidance, provision, and restoration. Christians experience this through a relationship with Christ, understanding that He leads them in 'paths of righteousness' for His name's sake (Psalm 23:3). The role of the shepherd is not solely theological but experiential; believers witness God's work in their lives through moments of comfort, protection during trials, and provision when needed. Thus, knowing the Lord as our shepherd reflects both a theological statement and an assured belief formed through trust and experience.
