How do we know that the Lord is our Shepherd?

Answered in 2 sources

We know that the Lord is our Shepherd through faith in Jesus Christ as well as His promises and reassurances in Scripture.

The assurance that the Lord is our Shepherd comes from the covenant relationship believers have with Jesus Christ. He claims His sheep as His own, emphasizing that they hear His voice and follow Him (John 10:27). The scriptures affirm the personal nature of this relationship; for instance, in Psalm 23, David expresses his trust that 'the Lord is my Shepherd,' indicating an individual claim. Furthermore, the Good Shepherd has laid down His life for His sheep (John 10:11), thereby securing their salvation and eternal security, allowing them to confidently declare that He is indeed their Shepherd.
