How do we know that the Lord's return is true?

Answered in 1 source

The truth of the Lord's return is affirmed by scripture which reveals God's faithful promises throughout history.

The certainty of the Lord's return is grounded in the faithfulness of God's word. As Isaiah states, God's counsels are faithful and true, promising that what He has purposed, He will fulfill (Isaiah 25:1). Not only is there prophetic testimony to His return in the Old Testament, but the New Testament confirms it with direct references to Christ's ascension and promised return. The angel's proclamation in Acts 1:11 reinforces this by stating that the same Jesus shall return as He went up into heaven. Additionally, the apostolic writings, particularly in 1 Thessalonians 5:23, emphasize God's commitment to sanctify and preserve His people until that day. Thus, believers can have complete assurance in the promise of Christ's return.
