How do we know that tithing is not required for Christians?

Answered in 1 source

Tithing is not commanded in the New Testament for Christians, as the apostles never mention it in their epistles.

The New Testament does not command Christians to tithe. In the entirety of the 21 epistles written by the apostles to the churches, there is no requirement to give a specific percentage, such as 10%. Tithing was rooted in the Old Testament law, applicable to Israel and their unique priesthood. Instead, New Testament giving is characterized by grace and love, where each person is to give as they have purposed in their heart, not out of obligation or fear. This shift reflects the fulfillment of the law through Christ, freeing believers from its burdens.
