How do we know that total depravity is a true doctrine?

Answered in 1 source

Total depravity is supported by scripture which affirms every person's inability to seek God, as highlighted in passages such as Ephesians 2:1.

Total depravity teaches that all humanity is spiritually dead in sin, unable to come to God apart from divine intervention. This doctrine is supported by Ephesians 2:1, which states that we were dead in trespasses and sins. The doctrine emphasizes that salvation is entirely of God’s grace and not based on our own merit or ability. Since humanity is naturally inclined toward sin, the recognition of one’s helplessness and utter need for divine grace is essential for true faith in Christ.
