How do we know that trials strengthen our faith?

Answered in 3 sources

Biblical accounts and teachings demonstrate that trials serve to prove and deepen our faith.

Scripture clearly indicates that trials are instrumental in the growth of our faith. Charles Spurgeon notes that God, in His infinite wisdom, utilizes trials to showcase the power of divine grace. These challenges serve to illustrate the authenticity of our virtues and augment their vigor. If one reflects on their own life, they may recognize that their faith only became stronger through the difficult experiences that tested it. Without these trials, the depth and resilience of our beliefs would remain unexposed and underdeveloped.
