How do we know that true believers can have doubts?

Answered in 1 source

True believers, even those well taught, can experience doubts and ignorance, as shown in the disciples' reaction at the tomb (John 20:9).

The reality of doubt among believers is illustrated by the apostles at the tomb. Despite being with Jesus and hearing His teachings, John and Peter demonstrated ignorance concerning His resurrection when they arrived at the tomb (John 20:9). This prompts the understanding that true faith does not eliminate doubt or confusion; rather, it acknowledges human frailty and the need for divine revelation. Even devoted followers like the apostles have moments of disbelief, which highlights the importance of God's grace in enlightening the heart and mind of believers. Believers should recognize that these struggles are a part of spiritual growth and that Christ's revelations will ultimately lead to stronger faith.
