How do we know that true faith leads to a change in behavior?

Answered in 1 source

True faith results in a change of heart that is evidenced by a transformed life and new motivations.

In Galatians 5:22-23, the fruit of the Spirit illustrates the characteristics of a transformed life. Genuine faith, granted by God's grace, leads to a change of motives; believers are motivated by love and gratitude toward God rather than fear or self-interest. This alignment with God's will and kingdom is a clear indicator of true faith. When individuals come to know God, their desire shifts from living in rebellion to living for His glory, producing an evident change in behavior.
