How do we know that we are a sweet savor to God?

Answered in 1 source

We are a sweet savor to God because He sees us through Christ, who has perfected us by His sacrifice.

In 2 Corinthians 2:15, Paul writes that we are a sweet savor of Christ to God. This means that when God looks upon us, He doesn't see our imperfections or sins; instead, He sees His Son, Jesus Christ. Just as Jacob deceived Isaac by dressing as Esau, God sees the merits of Christ in us. Our righteousness is not based on our own works, but on the perfect obedience and sacrifice of Christ (Philippians 3:9). This sweet aroma arises from Christ's work in us, confirming that we are accepted in the Beloved (Ephesians 1:6). Thus, believers are encouraged to rejoice in our identity in Christ, fully understanding that we are made pleasing to God through Him.
