How do we know that we are among the elect?

Answered in 2 sources

The assurance of being among the elect comes from the faith in Christ given by the Holy Spirit and the promise that 'my sheep hear my voice' (John 10:27).

The assurance of election is rooted in the believer's response to the gospel and the work of the Holy Spirit. According to Ephesians 1:4-5, God chose His people in Christ before the foundation of the world. The true evidence of this election appears when one responds to the gospel message, recognizing their need for salvation. John 10:27 supports this, indicating that Christ's sheep hear and follow His voice, which implies an active response to God’s call. Ultimately, faith and belief in the truth, as described in 2 Thessalonians 2:13, evidence the work of God's Spirit in our hearts and assure us of our election.
