How do we know that we are anointed by God?

Answered in 1 source

Believers know they are anointed by God through the inner witness and confirmation of the Holy Spirit within them.

The assurance of being anointed by God is revealed through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, as articulated in 1 John 2:20. Believers possess an unction from the Holy One, which means they have been given the gift of the Holy Spirit to dwell within them. This unction enables them to understand and discern spiritual truth, reaffirming their identity as God's chosen people. The Holy Spirit bears testimony to their hearts regarding God's Word and its significance, providing clarity and understanding that the unregenerate heart cannot grasp.

Moreover, this anointing manifests itself in the believer's ability to recognize the truth and refute the lies propagated by false teachings and antichrists. When believers genuinely seek God and rely on the Holy Spirit, they find comfort and assurance in knowing that they are God's anointed ones, kept from deception and equipped to navigate the complexities of faith in a fallen world.
