How do we know that we are free from the law of sin and death?

The verse in Romans 8:2 reads, 'For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.' This freedom comes through the work of the Holy Spirit, who applies the benefits of Christ's sacrificial death and resurrection to believers. The law, as perfect and holy as it is, cannot save; it merely exposes sin and condemns those who do not fulfill its requirements. However, Christ, through His atoning sacrifice, has borne the wrath of God and thereby fulfilled the righteous requirements of the law on behalf of His people. This assures believers of their liberation from sin's dominion and the eternal death it incurs.
