How do we know that we are heirs of heaven?

Answered in 1 source

Heirs of heaven are recognized by their fear of the Lord, obedience to Christ, and awareness of their own darkness.

The distinguishing marks of an heir of heaven include the fear of the Lord, obedience to His servant Jesus Christ, and an acknowledgment of the darkness in their own hearts. As illustrated in Isaiah 50:10-11, true believers may walk in darkness but ultimately trust in God's name. They do not rely on their own works for salvation but recognize Christ's redemptive power. Their experience of feeling their own depravity and the darkness of sin is accompanied by a trust in God's grace and a longing for the light of Christ. These traits are not self-manufactured but result from the transformative work of the Holy Spirit in a believer's life.
