How do we know that we are part of the elect?

Answered in 2 sources

Our desire to seek and understand God, along with faith in Christ, indicates our position as part of the elect (1 Peter 1:2).

Knowing that we are part of the elect is profoundly comforting and stems from understanding God's sovereign choice and grace. 1 Peter 1:2 states, 'Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father through sanctification of the Spirit.' This verse reassures believers of their identity in Christ. If you find yourself seeking after God, desiring to know Him more, and believing in the gospel, this reflects the work of the Holy Spirit in your heart, confirming your status as one of the elect. Moreover, faith, hope, and a love for righteousness are signs that the Holy Spirit is at work in your life, pointing towards your inclusion in God's eternal plan of salvation.
