How do we know that we are saved despite our continued sin?

Answered in 1 source

We are assured of our salvation by recognizing that we have an advocate in Jesus Christ who intercedes for us when we sin.

1 John 2:1 assures us that if we sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. This means that our sins do not forfeit our relationship with God but rather highlight our need for His grace. The righteousness of Christ is imputed to us, allowing us to stand justified before God despite our imperfections. The assurance of salvation comes not from our own righteousness but from the completed work of Christ. Thus, wrestling with sin reminds us of our dependence on Him for grace and mercy, reinforcing the truth of our salvation.
