How do we know that we are to follow Christ?

Answered in 1 source

Jesus assured His disciples in John 13:36 that although they cannot follow Him now, they will follow Him later.

In John 13:36, Peter's inquiry reflects a common desire among believers to follow Christ wherever He goes. Jesus replies that Peter cannot follow Him at that moment, but he will follow later. This indicates both the unique role of Christ in salvation and the believer’s journey of faith. Followers of Christ can take heart from His promise that one day they will be with Him in glory, reaffirming that our current struggles are temporary and our ultimate home with Him in heaven is secure.
