How do we know that we are truly saved?

Answered in 15 sources

True salvation is evidenced by a personal relationship with Christ and a desire for Him, not merely by religious activities or experiences.

The assurance of salvation is rooted in the personal relationship a believer has with Christ rather than in religious activities or experiences. As illustrated in John 1:12, receiving Christ grants the right to become children of God, a relational transformation rather than mere profession. This receiving is accompanied by a divine birth from above, as highlighted in John 3:3, marking a spiritual awakening. True believers exhibit a longing for Christ—a desire that cannot be satisfied by mere doctrine or religious involvement, but by an internal transformation that yearns for communion with Him, as expressed throughout the Gospel of John.
